Para Alexander von Humboldt, el paisaje era \u201cla totalidad de los aspectos de una regi\u00f3n vistos por el hombre\u201d. Con esta afirmaci\u00f3n, Humboldt hac\u00eda referencia a un \u00e1rea de conocimiento cuyo car\u00e1cter es el resultado de la interacci\u00f3n de elementos tanto humanos como naturales. Muy com\u00fanmente, las Am\u00e9ricas se han pensado desde lo \u201ced\u00e9nico\u201d, por no haber sido tocadas por la mano del hombre, o han sido descritas como el proverbial \u201cPara\u00edso Natural\u201d. Con el largo siglo diecinueve como punto de partida, este simposio busca ponencias que examinen arte paisaj\u00edstico de las Am\u00e9ricas donde la intervenci\u00f3n humana sea evidente. A pesar de lo ed\u00e9nico, tanto los Euro-Americanos como los pueblos ind\u00edgenas dejaron huellas sobre esta tierra, y \u00e9stas huellas merecen ser investigadas. La evidencia para esta l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n puede hallarse en pinturas al \u00f3leo, fotograf\u00edas, grabados, mapas, libretas de viaje, memorias pintorescas y objetos tridimensionales. As\u00ed pues, el simposio busca ponencias que problematicen las concepciones tradicionales del territorio y el paisaje americanos a trav\u00e9s de nuevas interpretaciones del terreno de las Am\u00e9ricas, poniendo a dialogar el paisaje natural con el paisaje cultural. Identificar estos paisajes del hemisferio occidental nos permitir\u00e1 encontrar paralelos, confluencias y divergencias, tanto en los temas como en las preguntas que nos permitir\u00e1n estos nuevos acercamientos al territorio de las Am\u00e9ricas, de una manera consistente con la mirada cosmol\u00f3gica humboldtiana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
